Putting our faith into action is at the very heart of our Christian calling and not just something that we do in our spare time after we have reached our personal goals. Our mission work at Wesley Chruch really isn’t “work”. It is sharing God’s love with those in need! We invite you to join us in service, outreach and mission opportunities.
“Give to others, and God will give to you…"
Luke 6:38
Mission opportunities
We offer several types of mission and service opportunities
QUILTING
Once a month we gather to make quilts for new born infants at Unity Point St Luke’s hospital and for all our babies that are baptized at Wesley Church. All are welcome and no special sewing or quilting experience is necessary!
Monthly a revolving team of volunteers prepares food, serves dinners and cleans up at the Siouxland Soup Kitchen, a non-profit that serves over 100 meals a day to the homeless and poor. Dates vary each month and volunteers need to be available for one of two shifts. No special skills are needed other than bring a warm loving smile!
We partner with the City of Sioux City to clean the restrooms and the surrounding park area every Monday 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. spring through late fall. This project includes praying for all those using the park in the week ahead.
Through Volunteers in Mission every person at Wesley Church has the opportunity to serve and to live their calling and their lives more faithfully. When we reach out in this way, using what God has given us in the service of others, we have life-transforming experiences.
At Soles4Souls, we turn unwanted shoes and clothing into opportunity, by keeping them from going to waste and putting them to good use–providing relief, creating sustainable jobs, and empowering people to disrupt the cycle of poverty.
