Who we are

We’re glad you’re here and look forward to meeting you! Wesley Global Methodist Church is a vibrant church located on the Northside of Sioux City, Iowa. We are a multi-generational church comprised of people from the Tri-State area. We aren’t too big and we’re not too small and that’s one of the things you will find special about Wesley Church! We are a real place with real people connecting with God. We welcome everyone to participate in worship and communion.

What we believe

It’s simple. It’s all about Jesus. All of history points to the one who made all, and in the flesh, came to reveal His love to all. All of humanity finds peace, purpose, and passion for living by simply pursuing Jesus who calls each of us to “come and follow me.”

All the Bible is about is a simple story of how God reveals himself in Christ as the way of truth who sets us free. It is a journey of grace and growth through faith that leads us to know Him and become like Him. One step at a time.

We at Wesley Church believe it is no accident that you are here. God has a unique plan for your life that you should know and really live. REALLY! We know life can easily get complicated. Too easily we can get off track with what God wants to do with our lives. Wesley Church hopes to simplify the pathway for you to get back on track. Stay on track. See a bigger vision for your life. Ultimately helping to equip you for whatever God wants to do through your life.

Youth

  • Children

    Wesley Church is a great place for kids! Our age appropriate classes are anything but boring.  Kids are excited and engaged about their faith!  Our focus is to build a stong foundation in Christ in a safe and loving environment. Sunday School meets September through May 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. in the Educational Wing.

  • Tweens

    Our 5th through 7th grade classes explore real-life issues. With a new topic each month, students learn through games, short films and deep discussion.  Confirmation is offered on a periodic basis. 

  • Teens Loving Christ

    Teens Loving Christ (TLC) is our student fellowship ministry for 6th through 12th grade.  Everything we do is to help students take their next step. We meet every Sunday during the school year.  Middle School meets from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and High School meets from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friends, regardless of church affiliation, are welcome to join in!  TLC provides a wide variety of activities in a safe Christian environment.

  • Vacation Bible School

    Every July we spend one week in a fun, themed, hands-on Bible learning experience. Kids will participate in a variety of fun activities focused on the truth and love of Jesus Christ.  Teens are welcome to be activity assistants and mentor our kids during this fun filled week.

  • Summer Camps

    Summer Camp is the ultimate experience for kids. Wesley Church provides scholarships to offset the costs for our kids so everyone can experience the adventure of attending a Methodist Church camp. Our nearest camp is Lake Okoboji.   • Men

    We have a variety of service opportunities organized by our Trustees Team.  Do you have a skill set that may help Wesley maintain our church home? We need help with day-to-day maintenance both inside and outside our building. If you are interested in sharing your talents on occasion or on a regular basis, please contact us.

  • Women

    “God and my Girlfriends” is our women fellowship for all ages. This group gathers once a month for some awesome girlfriend time! A variety of activities are planned throughout the year including Bunko, movies, painting, concerts and crafts. Watch for upcoming events on our calendar. 


    Eve Circle is our Church Circle and is open to all women. This group generally meets monthly in the evenings and has a variety of spiritual programs throughout the year. 


    Twice a month we gather to make quilts for newborn infants at Unity Point St. Luke’s Hospital and for all our babies that are baptized at Wesley. All are welcome and no special sewing or quilting experience is necessary!  Quilters meet at 6 p.m. in the double classroom on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month.

  • Bible Study

    Throughout the year, Wesley Church provides a variety of small group Bible studies. We design our Bible studies to be short-term small group gatherings to deepen the words of Christ in a personal small group experience. 

  • Grief Share

    GriefShare is for people grieving the death of a family member or friend, and is a 13-week program.  GriefShare is open to the community, plans are being made for the next session of GriefShare.

Worship Arts
Worship Arts are a vital part of our worship experience. We offer a variety of musical and service opportunities between two different worship services. We welcome occasional contributors and those willing to commit on a regular basis. Do you enjoy singing, playing an instrument, reading scripture, helping as a technician in our media room, ushering, greeting and/or giving children’s sermons? Community Groups
Throughout the year, Wesley UMC hosts a variety of groups.

  • Overeaters Anonymous

    Meets Tuesdays at 1:00 p.m. and Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. in the Education Wing. Overeaters Anonymous is a fellowship of individuals who through shared experience, strength and hope, are recovering from compulsive overeating. We welcome everyone who wants to stop eating compulsively. There are no dues or fees for members; we are self-supporting through our own contributions, neither soliciting nor accepting outside donations. Our primary purpose is to abstain from compulsive eating and compulsive food behaviors and to carry the message of recovery through the Twelve Steps of OA to those who still suffer.   • Alanon & Alateen

    Meets Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. in the Education Wing. Our personal situations may be different, but we share as equals because of what we have in common: our lives have been affected by another person’s drinking. Al-Anon is a mutual support group. We can find understanding and support when we share our common experience with each other. Some of us are here because a spouse or partner has struggled with alcoholism. For others, the problem drinker is a parent, child, or grandchild. Sometimes a brother, a sister, or some other friend or relative brings us to Al-Anon. Many of us have had more than one alcoholic family member or friend. Alcoholism has similar effects on us all, even though our relationships to the alcoholic may be different. Many newcomers are most interested in hearing about situations and relationships that are similar to their own. Over time, however, we come to understand that we can benefit from hearing how the Al-Anon principles worked in many different circumstances.   • Girl Scouts

    Meet Mondays at 6:00 p.m. Girl Scouts unleashes the G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™ in every girl, preparing her for a lifetime of leadership—from taking a night-time hike under the stars to accepting a mission on the International Space Station; from lobbying the city council with her troop to holding a seat in Congress; from running her own cookie business today to tackling cybersecurity tomorrow. Scott Squires

Pastor
Scott Squires resides in Le Mars, Iowa with his wife Karman.  Scott and Karman have three adult children: Jacob, Maria, and Sarah.  All three children are currently attending college: one is in the process of transferring from SDSU to a flight school in Sioux Falls and two are finishing their schooling with USD.  Scott’s wife, Karman, is from Sioux Falls, SD, and works as an Occupational Therapist at Unity Point Health Hospital in Sioux City.  Scott and Karman recently celebrated their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary and have lived in the same house for over twenty years.  Scott started his spiritual journey in Phoenix AZ where he spent most of his childhood years.  After receiving his calling for the pastorate, he attended Central Christian College of McPherson, Kansas.  After graduating College, Scott returned to Phoenix and met the love of his life and shortly after Scott and Karman married, they traveled to St. Paul, Minnesota and Scott began his seminary studies at Bethel.  While living in St. Paul, Scott worked as an English-speaking Pastor at New Brighten Korean United Methodist Church. However, due to unfortunate circumstances pertaining to the United Methodist University Senate, Bethel failed to receive further recognition. Scott and Karman returned to Phoenix and Scott received a pastoral assignment at Lake View United Methodist Church of Sun City, AZ.  During their time in Phoenix Scott continued his Seminary Studies through Clarmont School of Theology.  During this time all three children were born, and Scott and Karman longed for a small-town community in which they could raise their children.  Subsequently, they decide to move to Le Mars so they might be closer to Karman’s family and Scott finished his Divinity degree at Sioux Falls Seminary.  Scott was assigned to Crescent Park Church of Sioux City in 2007 and in 2020 Scott accepted as second pastoral charge with Trimble Church.  Scott is very excited about his new adventure in ministry with the Wesley family.  Scott is very passionate about his faith, and he believes God has wonderful plans for Welsey.
